Rumour Report: Nylander, Stone, Duchene, Bobrovsky + more

Suitors for Sergei Bobrovsky, William Nylander and Mark Stone emerge, while trade rumours swirl around Nick Leddy, Matt Duchene and Alec Martinez and more.

  • Blue Jackets goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky seems headed for free agency this summer, but could he get moved before the deadline? Not if Columbus wants to contend, but losing an asset of his calibre for nothing would be hard to swallow. Among the teams rumoured to have interest are the New York Islanders. Speculation points to the Blues as a potential landing spot as well.

  • Nick Leddy's name has entered the rumour mill in recent weeks. The Islanders have had a fairly solid start, but if they were to fall out of it he's one name to keep an eye on. Leddy has 3 years left at $5.5 million, and it's not initially obvious why the Isles would want to gut their defensive depth even more than they have over the last few years. Maybe Leddy wants out?
  • The list of suitors for Toronto RFA winger William Nylander continues to grow, with Carolina, Los Angeles, Minnesota and Philadelphia all emerging as potential landing spots. Things are about to heat up with the December 1st RFA signing deadline looming.

  • Though Ottawa's preference is to retain both pending UFA forwards Mark Stone and Matt Duchene, one or both could be sent packing before the trade deadline. Among the teams rumoured to have interest in Stone: the Golden Knights and Avalanche.
  • It's not as clear which teams would be after Matt Duchene. For what it's worth, the Canadiens, Islanders, Predators, Hurricanes and Blue Jackets were among the runners-up to Ottawa when they acquired him from Colorado last year.
  • Alec Martinez is seeing his name in the rumour mill once again after spending some time in it last season. A player of his calibre isn't usually available, but the Kings are looking for another piece up front and could be looking to make a move to salvage their season.
  • With Jonathan Quick going down to long term injury, there's growing speculation that the team will enter the trade market to fill the gap in net. Free agent goalie Steve Mason has been mentioned as a possibility.
